ANIMAL HOSPITAL
Drs. Kathy and Shawntel first met at St. Johnsbury Animal Hospital in 2020. They quickly realized they shared the same passion for providing the best possible patient care, dedication to always learn more and appreciation of getting to know the families that trust them with the health of their pet. Being residents of the Northeast Kingdom, they wanted to open a veterinary hospital to provide care to the dogs and cats of their community that reflect these values.
OUR TEAM
Dr. Kathy Tamburello
Dr. Tamburello has a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Kansas, a Master's degree from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and graduated with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2010. She remained in Madison an additional year to complete a rotating small animal internship. Prior to moving to Vermont, Kathy worked as an emergency veterinarian at a specialty and emergency hospital in Rhode Island. Her special interests include internal medicine and senior pet care.
Kathy lives in Lyndonville with her partner Tim, their three dogs and one cat. She prefers to be outdoors than indoors and spends her time off mountain biking and hiking in the NEK.
Dr. Shawntel Sechrist
Dr. Shawntel Sechrist is originally from North Carolina. She has a BA in Chemistry and a BS in Animal Science from North Carolina State University. She earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State in 2001. After vet school she did an emergency and critical care internship followed by another year as an attending clinician at an emergency hospital in Raleigh. Then she transitioned into general medicine and worked in the Raleigh area until moving to Vermont in 2009. She has worked in St. Johnsbury since then. Shawntel’s special areas of interest are senior pet care and dentistry.
Shawntel lives in Kirby with her family, one dog, and two cats. She enjoys hiking, travel, and having adventures with her family.
Our Support Staff
Our staff is well trained and here to help our doctors throughout the office. Whether it is answering your calls, answering your questions, or helping you book an appointment. Our knowledgeable techs are always willing to lend a hand in the back of the office, and love and care for your animals as much as our Doctors. You will receive the love and support from our entire team from the moment you pick up the phone or enter our office, throughout your entire visit, and when you go to leave. We take your all of your family into our hearts and treat them the way we would want our animals treated.
